The FMI Design & Engineering Team works directly with customer engineers to
ensure that each design meets specific customer needs, quality and cost targets.
As appropriate, each project is managed in accordance with Advanced Product Quality
Planning (APQP) principles and a formal Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Product Quality Planning is a structured method of defining and establishing the
steps necessary to assure that a product satisfies the customer. The goal of product
quality planning is to facilitate communications with everyone involved to assure
that all required steps are completed on time. FMI utilizes cross-functional teams,
in close coordination with our customers, to ensure effective execution of APQP.
The FMI Design & Engineering Team utilizes advanced software, including both 2D
CAD and 3D-solid modeling based systems to support our design efforts. These systems
provide accurate representation of the design geometry as well as interference/clearance
verification. The use of advanced technology also allows our team to design FMI
expansion joints and bellows to comply with the exacting standards set forth by the
Expansion Joint Manufacturer's Association (EJMA).
FMI provides design-engineered solutions for a wide array of applications in industries
ranging from Engine, Power Generation, Petrochemical, Aerospace, Cryogenic, Marine,
and multiple process industries. Our products can solve problems in piping associated
with thermal expansion, vibration, motion, cryogenics and high vacuums. Bellows and
expansion joints can be designed to improve durability and life expectancy of piping
systems that see high temperatures, handle corrosive media or rugged environmental
conditions.
